Meet Ms. Valerie

My name is Valerie McInroy, and I am the owner and primary instructor at Play Out Loud Music Studio. My love for the piano began in kindergarten, when I saw a real piano for the first time. I begged my parents to get one, along with a teacher to help me learn to play it. I was persistent, and eventually my parents gave in, and I began taking lessons around the age of 7.

I began teaching at the tender age of 16, while still in high school and mentored by my own teacher. I knew right away that this was my calling, and I continued to further my music education through my college years. I have been a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music since 2005, after completing rigorous testing. Just prior to opening this studio, I served as the Education Director for The Piano Gallery School of Music in Corpus Christi, where in addition to my other duties, I also taught over 60 students of all ages each week.

As a music teacher, children’s advocate, and parent, I feel a responsibility to educate the community about the positive and life-changing benefits of music study, and to help students achieve their full musical and personal potentials.  I believe that music is for everyone - regardless of race, economic status, or ability, and I do what I can to support that philosophy.

I also continue to further my own music education and research to ensure that what I am teaching is up-to-date and useful to my students. I stay abreast of the current national and local trends in music education, and I support the local music and arts programs by attending and promoting concerts, recitals, and performances whenever possible.

When not teaching piano, I love spending time with my family and snuggling with our dogs. I love that I live near the coast and can enjoy long walks on the beach. In my spare time, you could also likely find me curled up with my two dogs, a glass of wine or coffee, and a good mystery novel.

Happy performer with teacher!
